WEDDING ON THE BEACH
Say "I accept" with a background of sun and surf
The protected beaches off the coast of Orange County can be awe-inspiring settings for your wedding. Recognized as one of the most beautiful beaches in the state, Crystal Cove State Beach, north of Laguna Beach, has historic cabins for rent (book as far in advance as you can). Or choose a style to be barefoot on the beach in Huntington Beach, also known as "the surf city" in the United States, with hoops of fire in the sand to have fun at dusk. Celebrate the gold rings at your fingertips on the narrow strip of sand known as Silver Strand State Beach, a bit of sand with ocean on one side and bay on the other at the southern end of Coronado Island in San Diego Bay.
Along the Central Coast, conduct a barefoot wedding on the fine sand of Playa Carmel. (It helps that there are many luxury lodgings, such as the newly renovated Bernardus Lodge, where they can host the reception).
North of San Francisco, the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Point Reyes National Seashore offer incredible views of the bay and ocean in rugged coastal environments. For a touch of elegance amidst all natural beauty, try the beautiful half-timbered Pelican Inn on remote Muir Beach near Muir Woods. North on the coast at Sonoma Coast State Park find a dreamy spot along 17 miles / 27 km of remote beaches, with seagulls flapping, seals in the sun and whales spewing water jets like welcome to the wedding guests.
For the North Coast of the state, consider giving the yes at an oceanfront at Mendocino Headlands State Park. Then head to one of Mendocino's romantic accommodations or B & B, such as the Stanford Inn by the Sea, for a welcoming reception and a more welcoming wedding night.
Looking for a truly unforgettable environment? South of Mendocino, Point Arena Lighthouse is an unforgettable setting to say your vows, and there are very well kept cottages on site in case you want to spend the weekend.
